Standard Work and Instructions (SOPs)

Writing Better Procedures for Safe and Reliable Operations

Our normal course is one day duration. However, for some clients we provide a more in-depth two day course tailored to their situation and systems.

We can alter the emphasis of the one day training to suit you - include and expand upon Standard Work documents, approach, analysis and benefits, or concentrate on techniques and approaches to writing world class Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that reduce variation and error, and improve quality and efficiency.

Of course you may want both, but this will require more than one day.

Why Standard Operating Procedures?

Standard Operating Procedures should be the solid foundation upon which we build our business activities, but only too often it is a shaky foundation.

Our procedures are long winded and hard to read, we have poor adherence to procedures, people interpret procedures very differently to each other, and so our processes become variable impacting on quality, productivity, and safety.

This course explores why this is and suggests practical pragmatic solutions that we can implement which will firm up the foundations of our business activities, so improving safety, quality, and productivity.

Best practice formats for procedures will be provided, but more importantly the concepts and principles behind best practice is covered which allows candidates to apply them to their own procedures to improve the quality of the content without necessarily needing to re-write a business’ complete set of procedures in a new layout, so saving time and effort but still delivering an improvement.
